Martial Vivot Salon Pour Hommes

Martial Vivot opened up Martial Vivot Salon Pour Hommes – New York’s first high-end men’s salon – in July 2008.

Vivot – a successful men’s stylist who had achieved impressive media notoriety in previous positions at high profile New York City salons – also employed legendary celebrity and editorial men’s stylist, Losi. Located on tony West 54th street in Manhattan; with a client roster of celebrities and bold-faced names; and a first-of-its-kind in the city; MVSPH was a natural fit for national and high-profile city-wide media coverage.

A large PR firm was hired for the launch. In the first 6 months the firm produced one piece of press for the salon.

Nutter Media was brought on to handle MVSPH’s publicity in December, 2008. After positioning the salon clearly as the first and only men’s salon in New York to give service on par with world-class unisex salons such as Garren or Frédéric Fekkai; articulating the brand concept clearly in press material; helping to assemble a physical and online press kit; and designing of a media list tailored to the needs of the salon; the press campaign was launched in February, 2009.

Press to follow included 2 New York magazine best men’s salon nods in ’09 and ‘10; expert quotes by Vivot in men’s magazines such as GQ, Details and Out; a profile and an editor’s-pick nod in BlackBook; a review on VanityFair.com; a best men’s salon nod by Time Out New York; a profile of one of the younger stylists by Manhattan magazine; a feature-length profile of Vivot in the Styles section of the New York Times; and a profile of the salon in Morgan Spurlock’s (Super Size Me) film on men’s grooming.

With the help of the media coverage in the appropriate venues that communicated the essential idea that Martial Vivot Salon Pour Hommes is the first and only high-end men’s salon in New York City, the salon is now firmly established as such in the media, and in the mind of the public.
